In-Home Personal Training in London: How It Works and What to Check
What to expect from a personal trainer who comes to your home in London, and the qualifications, insurance and checks to ask about.

In-home personal training in London means the trainer travels to your flat, house, building gym or a local park. It saves travel time and suits people who train early or late, new parents, and anyone who'd rather not train in a busy gym.
How it usually works
- A first consultation covering goals, health history and the space you have
- The trainer brings portable kit (bands, dumbbells, kettlebells, mats) or plans around what you own
- Sessions are often 45 to 60 minutes, one to three times a week
- Travel across London takes time, so many trainers cover a set group of boroughs
What to check
- Qualification: a Level 3 Personal Trainer qualification from a recognised awarding body is the usual standard in the UK.
- Professional register: CIMSPA, the chartered body for the UK sport and physical activity sector, runs a professional register. The old REPs UK register closed in 2021, so a REPs membership card is no longer current.
- Insurance: ask whether they hold public liability and professional indemnity insurance that covers training in clients' homes.
- DBS check: there's no blanket legal requirement for adult one to one training, but many trainers who work in homes hold a DBS certificate and will show it if you ask.
- Agree cancellation terms and travel area in writing.
Prices vary by borough, travel and experience. We only show the rates London trainers list on their own profiles, so compare those directly and enquire free.
